A Journey to self-care is a very interesting one whether it is taken by yourself or someone make you realize to start it for oneself. Self-care is not only limited to your physical being but it also covers your mental health. Mental health is very important to start with. Once you have to makeup your mind to start A Journey to self-care.

As far as A Journey to self -care is related to brain ,its all about how you keep your thought detoxified by keeping yourself away from stress, anxiety and negative thoughts that gives you a feeling of discomfort and makes you feel uncomfortable.

What is a Journey to self-care?

To know about a Journey to self-care Self-care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated. It is about valuing yourself, giving yourself a break, and accepting who you are. It is about knowing that it is okay to fall but at the same time having the belief that you deserve better and that
better is something you can get for yourself only. So since you only have the key to the door of your dreams shouldn’t you take care of yourself as surely if the person with the key was someone else you would have done whatever it takes, for them to hand that key to you.

Why is self-care important?

It helps raise one’s self-esteem and self-confidence. It prepares one to face the world with a brighter smile as you know what your strengths are and what is it that you need to work on. Most importantly it helps you to understand yourself as after all you cannot understand the world until you understand yourself. Nowadays, people have a preoccupied life where usually the person to take care of in the last is they themselves.

What is self-care misunderstood as?

Self-care is not selfish. For you to help others, you need to help yourself first. As rightfully said by;

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”-Maya Angelou

People often consider self-care as just having a pedicure, exercising or perhaps going to a salon to feel beautiful. Now self-care includes that but there is more to it. Self-care is also about taking care of your mental peace and striving to become a better person by working on yourself. Self-care leads to
self-improvement. As much as you have to take care of yourself physically the same or more you have todo mentally. It is also about quitting your badhabits, one doesn’t realize that but whatever wrong you do it affects yourmental peace as you know it is wrong but you are adamant to do it. This to be more specific is taking care of your soul. Think about it, you take care ofyour body by giving it nourishment; you take care of your mind by getting rid of negativity and thinking positively so you have to take care of your soul
too. You should take care of your soul by doing good for others and the satisfaction that will give will be enough to make you feel better each day. You will find peace with yourself and begin the journey to self-improvement.


What can you do to start your journey to self-improvement?

It is important to first remind yourself that you need to give yourself some time.

3 ways to a Journey to self -care

3 ways to take care of yourself are as follows;


1) Physically

Exercise regularly  For example :Yoga will make you calmer

Eat a healthy diet    Go out for a walk

Have a proper sleep routine with at least 9hrs of uninterrupted sleep.

Try sleeping early at night and wakening up early in the morning you will see the change in your mood and

Limit the use of mobile phones and generally the screen time to a maximum of 2-3hours a day which itself is more but in quarantine when all are stuck in a home it is a little justified however in normal days the overall screen time should not be more 1.5 hours.

Take care of your personal hygiene.

2) Mentally

Get rid of the negativity that surrounds your mind.

Start valuing what you have rather than what you have lost.

Stop being envious of people around them and appreciate them wholeheartedly.

Don’t think much of the past and spoil the present while doing so.

Accept your mistakes instead of denying them as that is when you will outgrow yourself.

Talk about it when it gets hard to hold on to with your friends and if it is still unbearable as to whatever you are going through then seek help from a psychiatrist.More tips on taking care of yourself mentally are here.

3) For the soul

Start practicing gratitude towards all the blessings you have.

Do one good thing for someone every day, even if it is making someone smile.

Stop hating people even if they have done wrong to you, try forgetting and forgiving people as holding grudges does more harm to you than to the person who has hurt you.

Quit a bad habit each week   Start cultivating your personal strengths to the fullest possible degree.
