Do you think you know it all? Some times one thinks that he or she knows it all but its not the case.
Do you think you know it all?
What is quarantine?
A state, period, or area of disconnection in which individuals or creatures that have shown up from somewhere else or have been exposed to infectious illness are placed, so lessening the danger of them tainting others.
What is coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a type of virus, the history of human coronaviruses began in 1965. Since then many different types of coronaviruses have been discovered. Out of more than a dozen different types of coronaviruses discovered until now, some can cause illness. A newly identified type has caused a recent outbreak of respiratory illness now called COVID-19. COVID-19 first appeared in Wuhan, a city in China, In December 2019. Although health officials are still tracing the exact source of this new coronavirus, early theories based on limited proof indicate that it may be linked to a seafood market in Wuhan, China. As the symptoms normally take 14 days to appear, after one’s contact with the virus. It is vital for one to completely self-isolate for 14 days after He/She has any doubt that they have been exposed to the virus.
Coronavirus victims and Post-traumatic and acute stress disorder:
Post-traumatic and acute stress disorder (PTSD):
They are mental health conditions that are triggered by an unnerving event — either encountering it or seeing it. The majority of symptoms of acute stress disorder are similar to the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, the only key difference between the two is that post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms can carry on for at least one month, while acute stress disorder symptoms typically carry on for approximately 2 to 4 days and they both tend to begin immediately following the traumatic event.
Do you think you know it all? The people who have been infected once but then recovered may have developed Post-traumatic or acute stress disorder, as a result, they see flashbacks of the time when they were in hospital or quarantined. Their sleep is also disrupted as they see nightmares of the event this accelerates cardiovascular aging thus increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This disorder also changes the way of thinking of a person, as he now first sees the negative part in everything or everyone that surrounds him he may also have negative thoughts about himself, this makes him hopeless about his future as he starts seeing the world as more of a depressing and dull place.
Do you think you know it all? If this disorder is at a very severe level, it can be life-threatening to the patient and the people that surround him as it promotes aggressive and self-harming behavior such as, drinking too much or driving too fast.
A study done on hospital staff that might have been exposed to SARS showed that after the quarantine period (9 days) ended, the staff showed symptoms of acute stress disorder. The same study stated that the staff quarantined showed frequent signs of fatigue and limited contact with other staff members, they also faced severe anxiety when dealing with feverish patients. Their focus on work also dropped, as a result, their work performance declined and many of them even considered resigning.
According to another study, the outcome of being quarantined was a forecaster of post-traumatic stress symptoms in hospital workers even 3 years later. Thus showing that these disorders have a variation in how long they are going to last, usually depending on the level of involvement of one in the traumatic incident and the level of the incident.
Quarantine a time to think.
Do you think you know it all?
Do you think you know it all? People are quarantined not because they can escape death but because they can prepare for it. It is time for us to rethink and value things that we always took for granted. We always think about things according to the way we want them to be for e.g some had plans to go abroad for vacations or for education etc, So this year is the perfect example of, how in life not always things will go as planned. While we are planning out everything, we often forget that the best planner dwells in the skies knowing what is best for us.
This isolation is the perfect time to analyze your life, make important decisions, and most importantly spend your time with your family. According to human nature, unfortunately we always realize the importance of things or people when they are long gone. Why can’t we value each individual in the present, why can’t we appreciate people when they do something great? why don’t we treat people like we want to be treated by them?
So today lets make a promise to spread joy, positivity, and happiness around .Do you think you know it all? As established by the great philosopher Mill, the ultimate goal of morality aims at the greatest happiness. According to human nature the contentment one feels after helping another individual will always be more than winning a trophy for themselves. If you don’t believe this than I can prove this just now. When we watch game shows on television where individuals can win cash, appliances, gold, etc, We as viewers of the show aren’t getting anything from the show itself but in the process of watching it, we want others to win the maximum prize and when they do, we automatically get happy. So the key here is, we spend our entire lives, thinking our happiness is attained solely from getting what we want but human beings are not made in that way. The key is the virtue of character that will not only make you better for yourself but also for the people around you and in the end it is all that matters.
Also, our ego is what limits us from being better. Put it aside. It is like that fungus which spoils the fruit no matter how juicy it is. Ego stops you from seeking forgiveness, it stops you from being a better version of yourself, and most damaging is that it tells you that you are all that matters. The latter is so alarming because it makes you be like someone who will never be truly valued for what they deserve. I am sure no one wants to be like that.
In the end, lets promise to be more human, gain back the humanity which we had all lost when we stopped to care about the pain inflicted on people around us and to have empathy towards others and be the best version of ourselves, to make this world a better place to live in. If you all start thinking of what difference can one person make then I urge you to think that what if each individual out of the 7.5 billion population of this world can say and believe that I can make a difference then imagine what massive impact can we make together?
