How to know your Self-worth?

Self-worth means that you value yourself, and you have a sense of self-value which means that you are worthy. Self-worth is defined by Merriam-Webster as:

“A feeling that you are a good person who deserves to be treated with respect”.

Here are five of the top factors that people use to measure and compare their own self-worth to the worth of others:

A note by the writer to the audience

No one can set a limit to what you are and what you can achieve except you. In this world remember to raise your chin and stay proud of whatever you are and whatever you have achieved so far. If you don’t appreciate yourself and wait for what I call the WORLD ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, then trust me you will never be able to embrace happiness, as remember that you can never please the world but you can surely please yourself and the  people who are close to you.

Your worth should be calculated by your self-awareness and self-worth in your own eyes andthe value of impact you have on people around you.

Now let’s talk about them separately;

Knowing your self-worth is not about getting arrogant about what you have but rather knowing what you cannot compromise, things like your dignity, deeply held values, social values, etc. There is a need to set boundaries around you so that people around you know what their limits are. Now this is not about shutting people out
and being picky when making friends but rather choosing wisely who comes in. Your friends play a vital role in shaping your personality by creating a clear distinction between what you are and what you are not. This just leads you to know more about yourself and helps you in the process of knowing your self-worth. However, it is important to remind yourself that the best estimate of your self-worth is only your eyes and no one else’s. Your friends can help you in the process but not determine it.

Now the second part, how influencing people can help you determine your self-worth?

Well, what use there is to be good for yourself only? for you to elevate your worth, the laurels you have won and all different sorts of achievements that you have, can only help you to a certain level but for ultimate self-worth, it is vital to have an impact on others by helping them or motivating them to become a better version of themselves. As after all, telling the world  “I am a self-worthy person so respect me”, cannot force them to do so until you show them through your actions. But sometimes people still don’t acknowledge you and after all that, if they don’t then it shouldn’t matter to you because your intention was to help them only with no returns.

By these two ways, you will be able to have self-worth not only in your own eyes but other
people’s eyes too.
