5 things that are holding you back from being who you truly are

1)Lack of Self-belief

Things that are holding you back.Nothing holds you back more than your own insecurities, It is just like a termite which damages the wood from within. It stops you from discovering your own strengths because of your failure to try. Self-belief is the first step you need to take before succeeding in any field, after all, you cannot make the world believe you until you believe yourself. Lack of self-belief forces you to second guess your decisions. You feel reluctant to take action. You feel uncomfortable in your own skin. When a lack of confidence spins out of control, it can really affect your quality of life. And knowing where your doubts and fears come from is the first step in reclaiming the power that’s naturally and inherently yours.

Things that are holding you back You need to stop doubting yourself by first believing in your strengths and you need to listen to people around you who say, “Believe in yourself”, I cannot stress more on how important this is. Whenever you feel that you have no potential or drive to carry forward think about how you are being a victim of your own thoughts and how damaging this is. It is holding you back from your true potential, your dreams, and the skills you can build if only you believe. People are like stained-glass windows, they sparkle when there is light but when darkness sets, the only ones from light within can outshine.

As rightfully said by Eleanor Roosevelt, Future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

2)Peer pressure

At times people get influenced by their surroundings so much that they shape themselves in the way society wants them to be and as a result they lose their sense of identity. This pressure might transform you into someone you are not and often people dive so deep into that character that it becomes even harder to get back to who they truly were. Whenever you feel like you are being more of them and a less of you, just have a quick reminder of your deeply held values, your priorities and your don’ts, this will give you a fair idea of whether it is worth following the trend or sticking to your own values.

3) fear of criticism

This fear is due to the people around you for no reason, consider themselves as the judge of your life, and every time you make a move it is scrutinized carefully to pass on the final verdict of approval or disapproval. Now, this act is to be despised at all times but unfortunately, most of us do it. Having an opinion about certain things is fine but using that to let someone down and stop them from being who they are or doing something that they love is ridiculous. One needs to learn to keep that shit they blabber to themselves hence not to use it to poison other people’s day. Now the people who have to suffer because of the inability of others to shut their mouths, Now, to be honest, it is not something people with lack of self-belief have to suffer it is something everyone has to suffer but people with high morale and self-esteem find that blabbering as an opportunity to have more reasons to do something they are
held back from. In life, you cannot close every mouth but know that it automatically will when you do something that they believe you can.

In a nutshell,

“Do not let arrogance go to your head and despair to your heart; do not let compliments go to your head
and criticisms to your heart; do not let success go to your head and failure to your heart.”

―
Roy T. Bennett,

4) fear of failure

As rightfully said by Paulo Coelho, ”One day you will wake up and there will be no time left to do the things you always wanted to do so do it now”. Fear of failure stops you from even trying. It makes you a coward in your own eyes. It is important to remember that you cannot win every race or battle as the final say lies above in the skies as after all every hard work you put in cannot lead you to desired results, now since you don’t know which one will so keep trying until you get there. The fear of losing things in life will result in you losing them anyway. Think of fear as the stopping force or perhaps a repelling one which increases the distance between your goal and actually achieving it.

5)life experiences

Often hard times, events, and traumas of life can make you a little more cautious and doubtful about your decisions. Now being cautious is good to some extent not when it stops you from doing what you actually aspire for. Don’t let your past define your future, Don’t let the demons within you cut your wings and never hold yourself back from things you stand for. I get it life is hard and at times we suffer without much of our own fault by circumstances that surround us but always remember that the last call will always be yours so decide what your response should be for the situations you are stuck in, life will always give you this choice.

So we end on the famous quote by Paulo Coelho, ”If you truly want something then the entire will conspire in helping you to achieve it.” Finding yourself and your values is what will help you decide what you truly want from life as surely you cannot achieve anything without knowing what you want. Once you decide what you truly want, think of anything that stops you from getting it like an obstacle that you have to outrun to get what you truly believe in.
