“Understanding and Managing Aggression: Causes, Symptom, and Strategies.”

As for most of you, aggression or anger is just an unethical behavior, but there might be very
few who know the reason behind it, and also the true meaning of
Aggression
. Aggression doesn’t necessarily have to always be a result of bad behavior,
but sometimes it also comes from instinct on behalf of the surrounding. Such
behavior can be focused on something or someone due to several reasons which a
person dislikes. Sometimes Aggression is all normal because there are certain
situations where a person cannot withstand it anymore, and that will surely
result in misbehaving or anger, on the other hand, such behavior may also indicate
an abnormality in a person as a result of some mental health issues.

 Find its True Meaning

Aggression refers to behavior that is intended to
cause harm or pain. Aggression can be either physical or
verbal, and behavior is classified as aggression even if it
does not actually succeed in causing harm or pain.

To understand the true meaning of  Aggression, you need to understand how it evolves and affect the surrounding. There is no doubt that researchers have always been trying to find out the maximum
reasons that could trigger aggression in someone, but no one could ever tell
the exact reason for someone specific. It might be possible that someone is
already facing some problems in their workstations like the boss is unhappy or
workload is too much. So that would surely result in mental disorder, and when
such a person arrives home, then his family is going to face his aggression. Similarly,
there are other life situations as well that would easily trigger aggression
into anyone. Furthermore, you must understand that this condition not just
comes alone, but brings out a few other abnormalities as well.

Causes to Trigger Aggression

Depression leads to blood pressure, heart problems, lack of concentration, deep and
negative thoughts, sleep disorder, negativity in personality, and unable to
make correct decisions due to the influence of anger. Similarly, a person with
heightened Aggression has a problem of less appetite, weight loss, weakness, tiredness.
If you or someone around you has a similar issue then you must understand that
a stage might come when Aggression gets extreme, and that is the phase when a person becomes a threat to his or others life around him. Aggression that
involves such extremism also has some sort of history as well, which has led a
person to take some drastic measures to display his anger.

Symptoms of Extreme Aggression

Now the common reason behind such life-threatening situations is alcohol addiction,
mental illness, brain trauma, mood swings etc. Similarly,
Aggression in
children
is also a reason for some mental problems and health issues. Here,
you must understand the case is a bit different because
Aggression in
Children
can be caused anytime and anywhere and with even slight reasons.
Usually, people treat such kids with punishment without finding out the real
reason behind such behaviour. It is important to always remember that children
are a reflection of their parents and surroundings around them so at times when
scolding them is not of much help then you might as well see what wrong you are
doing or what wrong is there around them.

Aggression in Children

As for kids, such situations are not good mentally, and over time while living in
such conditions they develop a feeling of anger in them, which later results in
aggression towards other kids, and sometimes parents.
Aggression in Children
is sometimes visible while they are developing it because some kids never hide
anything from their parents. On the other hand, sometimes
Aggression in
Children
is undetectable, and you will only be able to realize this when
they burst out suddenly upon some injury or mistreatment.

How to control aggression?

1)Start forgiving people

“Forgiving is not forgetting but remembering and letting go”

-Claudia Black

Forgive people for your mental peace. Holding on to the wrong someone has done to you
will just make you a container full of all the negative feelings which may
overflow anytime and on anyone.

In order to forgive, you must learn to understand. Now by this I don’t mean that
you start giving a benefit of doubt to everyone and allowing them to make it
harder for you. Understanding means to understand the true motive of the person
who has hurt you if it didn’t seem intentional then, by all means, let go and
don’t waste your precious time thinking why did that person did what they did
to you but think that what is done is done now you need to decide how to get
rid of that feeling of anger. Also, decide the best way possible to deal with
the person causing the anger as, by all means, dialogue is a much better means of
dealing with any problem than aggression.

2) Time out

Often people say and do things in anger that they regret later. It is important to
try to zip it by not uttering a word and control your aggression as know
whatever you will say will be irrational.

Take a deep breath and have a glass of water.

Give yourself time to calm down. Set a timer of 40 seconds in your head. It is like zoning
out from the world when you feel like hurting someone near you regardless of
whatever they have done. It is important to remind yourself that no form of
physical activity can solve the problem better than dialogue.

3) Express your anger appropriately

It is important to let it out with the right person and the right time. You cannot
always keep it to yourself as when you do this, it is like self-harm. Suppressing
what you actually feel can lead you to not realize the core reason why you feel
that way. Talk to people who understand you and let it out. Try finding out
what pisses you out and why.

4) Acceptance

Don’t live in a world of denial. Accept your flaws, accept your situation, and your
failures. Holding on to it just makes it hard and you know it.
